EATING FOR TODAY AND TOMORROW
"We're healing the land, one bite at a time."
- Joel Salatin
SUSTAINABLE FARMING AND BIODIVERSITY
Massive industrial farming has caused a sharp decline in biodiversity and land degradation. It's just baby steps, but we're slowly working with more and more small growers who emphasize sustainable practices and transparency.
Protecting heirloom and non-commercialized varieties is also something we're working on. So far, we've been sourcing local heirloom tomatoes and rarer apple varieties such as Mutsu, Newtown Pippin and Gravenstein.
ELIMINATING FOOD WASTE
Our goal is to minimize food waste as much as possible. To do so we run a very lean operation, buying only what we can use and maintaining a high turnover rate. This means our produce is fresher and we have less unnecessary waste.
Whether it's for juicing, jams or the food bank, we also have procedures in place to put any produce that could not be sold to good use.
